A study from the Technical University of Vienna reveals that almost half of Europeans can only afford apartments of up to 50 square meters. The research analyzed the affordability of the housing market in several European countries, including Portugal.
The Portuguese housing market is classified by the study as "systematically inaccessible" for medium-income buyers. This means that people with intermediate salaries face great difficulties in purchasing a home in the country.
The study highlights the disparities in property access among the various European markets, with Portugal ranking among the countries where housing is most difficult to achieve for the middle class. This situation reflects broader trends of increasing prices and reduced financial capacity of buyers.
