Flamengo's first signings of this transfer window, Anthony Valencia and Joaquín Freitas, were presented to fans at Maracanã this Wednesday, before the match against Mirassol, a delayed game from the 4th round of the Brasileirão. Both attackers were announced yesterday morning, and the red-and-black club will invest approximately R$ 70 million in the two signings.
Valencia was the first announcement. The 23-year-old Ecuadorian right winger was purchased from Royal Antwerp, of Belgium, for 5 million euros, equivalent to R$ 30 million at the current exchange rate. He signed a five-season contract, until 2031, and will wear jersey number 14, a number recently worn by Arrascaeta.
Shortly after, the club formalized the arrival of Freitas, 19 years old, acquired from River Plate for US$ 8 million, approximately R$ 41 million. The Argentine also signed for five seasons, until 2031, and will wear jersey number 30. A natural center-forward, Freitas is regarded as a promising talent in his country and has already received an opportunity with the Argentine national team.
