USA negotiates with Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot

Observador2 September 2026 at 21:57

The United States is negotiating with Ukraine licenses for the production of Patriot missiles on Ukrainian territory. This negotiation comes in a context of growing demand for these air defense systems in the context of the ongoing conflict.

The US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, indicated that even if an agreement on production licenses is reached, there is no immediate solution to the situation. The diplomat acknowledged the practical limitations that prevent a rapid response.

The shortage in European stocks of Patriot missiles further worsens the picture. Several European countries face difficulties in replenishing their own inventories, which limits the capacity to support Ukraine through transfers of existing equipment.

Local production of Patriot missiles by Ukraine could, theoretically, increase the availability of these critical air defense systems, but logistical and time challenges continue to represent significant obstacles for rapid implementation.
