Ceasefire did not stop the violence: more than 1,300 people died in Gaza since October

SIC Notícias2 September 2026 at 21:26

More than 1,300 people died in Gaza since October, despite the signing of a ceasefire in the same month. Violence did not decrease in the region, contradicting the expectations created by the truce agreement.

The population of Gaza was severely affected by the conflict, with about 90% of the inhabitants becoming homeless. These people are now considered displaced in their own land, living in extremely difficult conditions.

Approximately 2,000 people live in tents settled in the Gaza Strip. These conditions are described as degrading, exposing the displaced to multiple daily difficulties.

Despite the existence of the ceasefire, the displaced continue to be subject to frequent attacks, which further aggravates the humanitarian situation in the region.

The children again

The author addresses, for the third time, issues related to children in his column, recognizing that it may be repetitive for some readers. However, he justifies his interest by the fact that children cannot solve their own problems, although this does not mean that these problems do not exist.
