Katmandu and China raise death toll to 1,225 a week after floods

At least 1,225 people died and 4,757 remain missing in Nepal and China, one week after the devastating flood that devastated the border between the two countries, according to official tolls updated today. On the Nepal side, the National Authority for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRMA) raised the death toll to 1,204 at 6:00 PM local time, while the number of missing stands at 4,216. Chinese authorities reported 21 dead and 541 missing in the Tibet region, completing the total figures for both countries. The disaster occurred exactly one week ago along the border between the two nations, causing one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes in the region in recent years.
