Families in Nepal hold symbolic funerals for missing flood victims

Sábado2 September 2026 at 20:57

Several families from some of the areas most affected by floods in Nepal held symbolic funerals on Wednesday for relatives who remain missing and are presumed dead. Along the Trishuli river, Hindu priests used figures made of straw to represent the missing and perform the last Hindu rites. The ceremonies took place in the areas most devastated by the floods, where many people remain missing after the tragedy. This ritual allows families to mourn and close a cycle, even without having the family member's body to bury.
