The "Club Portugués del Gran Buenos Aires", in Argentina, celebrated its 48th anniversary on August 23, in a day dedicated to music, Portuguese traditions and community fellowship. The celebration featured the presence of the Embassy of Portugal in Argentina and brought together families, friends and members of the Portuguese community, providing a moment of gathering in which Portuguese culture took center stage.
Among the musical moments, highlights include the performances of the "Grupo Folclórico Mocidade Portuguesa", a group from the club itself, and the "Grupo de Fados de Medicina do Porto", which traveled directly from Portugal to participate in the celebrations. The celebration also included the presence of the Museo Migrante, which allowed community members to search for information about the ships on which their grandparents and ancestors traveled.
During the celebration, progress was also presented on the physical component of the "Raíces y Saudades" project, an initiative aimed at strengthening meeting spaces and the work developed by the Portuguese community. The project has the support of the "Associative Support Program" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
The initiative, promoted by the Embassy of Portugal in Argentina, aims to bring the history of Portuguese immigration closer to the community and is available to institutions that wish to incorporate it into their anniversaries and larger gatherings.
