PSD criticizes censure motion presented by Chega: "The purpose is completely incomprehensible"

CNN Portugal2 September 2026 at 19:20

PSD criticized the censure motion presented by Chega against the Government, considering that the purpose of the initiative is "completely incomprehensible". The position was expressed by António Rodrigues, PSD deputy, who analyzed the motion presented by the far-right party.

The censure motion is related to the controversies surrounding Minister Luís Neves, who is part of the executive. Chega decided to proceed with this parliamentary initiative against the Government, triggered by the controversies involving the executive member.

António Rodrigues, on behalf of PSD, expressed his disagreement regarding the motion presented by Chega, questioning the political motivation behind this action. PSD positioned itself against the initiative of the radical right party.

The censure motion is a parliamentary instrument that allows the opposition to express its disagreement with the Government's actions, but PSD considered that, in this case, its presentation by Chega has no clear justification.
