Gabigol details failed renewal and says he wants to return to Flamengo: 'Team that moves me'

Gabigol, the Brazilian forward currently at Santos, revealed in an interview on the Fui Clear program on Clear TV that he maintains the desire to return to Flamengo in the future. The 27-year-old player stated that the Rio club is special in his career due to the connection built over six seasons. "I want to, I do want to, yes. Flamengo is a team that moves me," he declared.

The forward arrived at Flamengo in 2019 and played 306 matches for the red-and-black club, scoring 161 goals and providing 43 assists. during his time there, Gabigol won several significant titles, including two Libertadores, two Copa do Brasil, two Brasileirão, two Supercopa do Brasil, one Recopa Sul-Americana, and four Campeonato Carioca.

Gabigol also spoke about his failed contract renewal with Flamengo. The player stated that he doesn't feel comfortable playing against the red-and-black team and that going to Maracanã to face Flamengo is not easy for him. The interview was given while he was still at Santos, the club he currently plays for.

The forward still hasn't found a new club after leaving Flamengo at the beginning of 2025, when his contract ended. Santos, his youth club, was the team that welcomed him after his departure from the Rio club, keeping him active in Brazilian football.
