Thousands of people demonstrate in Ceuta in defense of the city due to the migration crisis

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 19:06

Thousands of people demonstrated today in the streets of Ceuta, coinciding with the autonomous city's day, in a mobilization called by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) as a way of support given the situation the city has been experiencing since last July 30, the date on which the massive entry of migrants occurred.

The demonstration aimed to defend Ceuta and show solidarity with the autonomous city, which has been particularly affected by the migration crisis. The participants walked through the main streets of the city to demonstrate their support for the Ceuta population.

The mobilization counted on the participation of thousands of people and was organized by FEMP, which gathered the support of various Spanish municipalities for the cause of the autonomous city.

The context of the demonstration is directly related to the migration crisis that Ceuta has faced since the end of July, when a massive entry of migrants was registered in the city, generating an emergency situation that prompted this institutional and popular support response.
