Trump's Energy Secretary visits Venezuela to celebrate recent bilateral oil agreement

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General2 September 2026 at 18:33

The Secretary of Energy of the United States, Chris Wright, visited Caracas to celebrate the recent bilateral oil agreement between the two countries. Wright stated that he wants to see a lot of investment coming from the United States in Venezuela to increase opportunities and prosperity for both peoples.

The visit of the American representative occurred a few days after the Venezuelan parliamentary approval of the bilateral oil agreement. According to President Donald Trump, the pact represents a "gift" of a "historic" nature from the South American country.

The pact will allow increasing the flow of private capital from a large number of US companies to Venezuela. Wright spoke favorably about the work of the Republican leader, stating that Trump's energy diplomacy is yielding results by driving new energy agreements, opening doors to US companies, and strengthening energy security throughout the hemisphere.
