Belgium opposes a new attempt to use Russian assets to support Ukraine. The Belgian Foreign Minister, Maxime Prévot, stated that Belgium's reasons for opposition have not disappeared, comparing the situation to something that cannot be resolved "by magic."
A group of European Union countries is attempting to revive the idea of using immobilized Russian assets to support Ukraine. This is not the first time this proposal has arisen within the EU.
Belgium's position contrasts with the efforts of other European nations that wish to proceed with the use of these frozen funds as a form of financial support for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing conflict.
