American actor George Clooney, 65, harshly criticized the United States government during a press conference at the Venice Film Festival in Italy. On the occasion, Clooney received an honorary Golden Lion for his career, at the opening ceremony of the festival's 83rd edition.
When asked about his view of the current situation in the United States under President Donald Trump's administration, Clooney stated that the country is going through difficult times. The actor used the term "kakistocracy," which means a country governed by the least capable people, to describe what he considers to be currently happening in the USA.
The artist completed his statement by saying he believes the country will manage to overcome this moment. The press conference took place on Wednesday, the same day Clooney was honored with the award by the Italian festival, one of the most prestigious film events in the world.
