Ventura accuses PS of wanting to keep Luís Neves in the Government if the motion of censure is rejected

SIC Notícias2 September 2026 at 18:07

André Ventura, leader of Chega, accused PS of intending to keep Luís Neves in the Government if the motion of censure presented by the party is rejected. The president of Chega considered that the rejection of the motion would leave PS politically associated with the continuity of Luís Neves as Minister of Internal Administration.

Ventura criticized the socialists' position regarding this issue, calling for the clarification of PS's responsibility concerning the maintenance of Luís Neves in the executive. The leader of Chega argued that parties should clearly state their position on the matter.

The motion of censure was presented by Chega and is generating a political debate about the continuity of the Minister of Internal Administration in the Government. PS's position in this vote is seen by Ventura as decisive in defining the political responsibility of the socialists.
