The PSD councilor at Azambuja Town Council questioned the municipal executive about the status of crosswalk painting at the convent. The councilor recalled that the council had announced the purchase of two machines for this purpose, but no improvements in horizontal signage were observed.
Margarida Lopes accused the Council of lying when it said it would proceed with painting crosswalks near Azambuja schools, showing images as proof of the accusation. The councilor had already raised this issue in previous executive meetings. In December, in response to the social-democratic councilor's concerns, the Council president, Silvino Lúcio, explained that the worker who usually handled the crosswalk painting had retired and that the municipality had acquired equipment to carry out the service with its own resources.
At Wednesday's council meeting, the councilor with the transport portfolio, Ana Coelho, reported that the crosswalks in question were eventually painted. She said the machines had been acquired, but that municipal workers would need to obtain training, having in the meantime painted the crosswalks by hand, namely near the social and parish center following an alert. "No one is standing still," she said.
