New ARDITI research vessel enters testing phase after construction completion

ARDITI's new research vessel completed construction on August 28, 2026, and the compliance testing phase has now begun for subsequent delivery and acceptance.

The vessel is funded by investment C10-i06 RAM - Ocean Technologies - Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), representing a significant investment in the region's scientific research capacity.

The acquisition of the vessel resulted from international public tender No. CPI 01/ARDITI/2024, and it is a multipurpose vessel equipped with a scientific sensor platform.

The vessel, multipurpose and equipped with a research platform, resulted from an international public tender and is now in the testing phase before entering operation.

German universities strengthen the study and valorization of the archaeological heritage of Vila Pouca de Aguiar

The German universities Hafencity of Hamburg and Frankfurt are collaborating with the Municipality of Vila Pouca de Aguiar on research and valorization work at the Tresminas Roman Mining Complex. Between August 21 and September 4, 12 students of Geodesy and Geomatics from Hafencity University, accompanied for the first time by two Archaeology students from Frankfurt University, are conducting field work that includes georeferencing, photogrammetry and laser scanning of Roman mining infrastructure and the associated water supply system. The team, led by researcher Regula Wahl-Clerici, also carried out the three-dimensional survey of the Church of Santa Eulália de Pensalvos and the Roman altars from Tresminas exhibited at the Martins Sarmento Museum in Guimarães. The partnership allows the creation of detailed digital records for scientific research, conservation and valorization of the municipality's archaeological heritage.

A study from the University of Arizona investigated whether having a pet is good or bad for health, using recordings of interactions between owners and pets. The researchers point out that previous research presents contradictory results about well-being, and a possible explanation is that it is not enough to know if someone has a pet: the quality and frequency of interaction with the animal may also matter. The developed system, based on 30 variables, was tested with 240 people from groups such as elderly, healthy adults, and couples.
