The return to school in Russia brings with it an increase in military training for students. During a meeting with teachers, Vladimir Putin used an unusual analogy to explain the war in Ukraine. The Russian president compared the situation to orcas that "shatter" polar bears in the Arctic.
The comparison was made when a teacher was recounting a trip to the North Pole during the conversation with Putin. The Russian president used the example from nature to try to justify the invasion of Ukraine, using the interaction between orcas and polar bears as a metaphor for the conflict.
