CHEGA wants mission and fixation supplement for security forces in Madeira

Funchal Notícias2 September 2026 at 17:04

The CHEGA Parliamentary Group in the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira announced that it will formalize the submission of a Draft Bill Proposal to the Assembly of the Republic. This initiative aims to create the Mission and Fixation Supplement for security professionals who perform functions in the Madeira archipelago. The party justifies this proposal with the need to recognize the specific conditions of police work in island territories.

The measure covers the elements of security forces operating in the region, intending to compensate for the difficulties inherent to geographic isolation and the particular conditions of service on an island. CHEGA argues that this supplement may contribute to the retention of professionals in local security forces and to greater attractiveness of service in the region.

This is not the first time that parties or regional entities have raised the issue of working conditions and remuneration of security forces in island territories. The valorization of professionals serving in autonomous regions such as Madeira has been debated in various political instances, considering the logistical and operational specificities of these territories.
