The Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rangel, stated today that there is a "fairly consensual understanding" in the European Union for the adoption of a "very demanding" sanctions package against Russia. This position arises in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, which has motivated a coordinated response by European countries. Rangel indicated that the EU is close to reaching an agreement on the restrictive measures to impose. According to the Portuguese official, this sanctions package could be approved as early as October, representing a significant step in diplomatic and economic pressure on Moscow.
