Presidential candidate promises to run 42 km per day after TSE suspends campaign

oglobo2 September 2026 at 16:34

Presidential candidate Wilson Grassi, from the Democratic party, had his electoral campaign suspended by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) last Monday. The decision was made by Minister Dias Toffoli and also affected the candidate's participation in electoral debates, in addition to blocking his access to disbursements from the Special Campaign Financing Fund (FEFC).

According to the TSE, the suspension occurred because Grassi did not comply with the deadline established by the Court to inform which profiles he would use during the campaign. The decision prevented the candidate from continuing his regular electoral activities.

In response to the suspension, Grassi gave an interview to the Poder360 portal on Tuesday, where he made an unusual promise. The candidate stated that he would cover 42 kilometers running around the TSE headquarters in Brasília until the decision was overturned, transforming the daily marathon into a form of protest and demonstration of engagement with the electoral race.
