Beja Hospital Gynecology/Obstetrics Emergency Department Closed

Rádio Campanário2 September 2026 at 16:30

The Gynecology/Obstetrics Emergency Department of the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA) has been closed since 08:00 on September 1st and until 08:00 on September 3rd, 2026. The closure is due to the impossibility of completing the medical schedule, resulting from the lack of professionals to ensure the normal operation of this emergency service.

The measure is integrated under Contingency Level 2, a protocol activated in situations of constraints in health services. Despite this closure, ULSBA informed that the remaining Emergency and Urgency network of the institution is functioning without any constraints.

The closed service is expected to resume normal operation at 08:00 on Thursday, September 3rd. This situation affects Beja Hospital and the population of the Baixo Alentejo region who depend on this health unit for emergency care in the area of gynecology and obstetrics.
