A Voz de Trás-os-Montes2 September 2026 at 15:56

The Government approved the execution of fuel management strips, allowing ICNF (Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests) to take administrative possession to begin the execution work on the strip corresponding to section 1276 of lot 3, in the parishes of the two Barrosões municipalities.

The primary network of fuel management strips is planned at the regional scale and its function is to reduce the burnt area of a potential fire and create opportunities for its effective and safe combat, according to information from ICNF.

The mayor of Boticas, Guilherme Pires, considered that the creation of this strip will allow protecting the region's forest. However, he highlighted the need to clarify who is responsible for the cleaning and what the costs associated with these works are.

The mayor of Boticas also highlighted that he has been noticing that the costs of cleaning are increasingly higher, accompanied by other additional charges.
