Ukraine formally notified the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on Wednesday declaring that Russian airspace "is not safe", amid the wave of drone attacks on various regions of the neighboring territory, related to the war in Eastern Europe.
The formalization came a day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's warning, who stated that Kyiv's unmanned aerial vehicles would make Russian airspace "completely unsafe" as long as the conflict lasts.
Russian President Vladimir Putin classified Zelensky's statement as "state terrorism", further raising tensions between the two countries. The Ukrainian notification to ICAO is part of a context of drastic escalation of the conflict between the two nations.
