After seeing his world record fall before his eyes in Zurich, Norwegian Karsten Warholm will not compete in the Diamond League finals, which begin this Friday in Brussels, Belgium. Brazilian Alison dos Santos was the one who shattered his rival's record, winning the Zurich leg of the Diamond League and setting the new world record in the 400 meters hurdles.

The previous record belonged to Warholm, with a time of 45 seconds and 94 hundredths, achieved at the Tokyo-2020 Games. Alison dos Santos, who is having an incredible season in the event, lowered the mark to 45 seconds and 80 hundredths, defeating the Norwegian directly in the competition.

The Diamond League final in the 400m hurdles is scheduled for Saturday and will be the last event on the program, at 9:52 PM in Belgium, which corresponds to 4:52 PM in Brazilian time.

In addition to Brazilians Alison dos Santos and Matheus Lima, Germany's Emil Agyekum, Americans Trevor Bassitt and Caleb Dean, Slovenia's Matic Ian Gucek, and Nigeria's Ezequiel Nathan will be in the final, completing the list of eight athletes qualified for the deciding race.
