Teachers from private schools in Rio de Janeiro are carrying out a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, amid an impasse in the salary campaign negotiations for the category. The strike may affect the operation of educational units in different regions of the city, but the situation varies from school to school. According to the Union of Teachers of the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro and Region (Sinpro-Rio), at least 19 institutions have classes suspended.
The strike was approved by Basic Education teachers from private schools during negotiations between Sinpro-Rio and the Union of Educational Institutions of Rio de Janeiro (Sinepe-Rio). Earlier this morning, there were small demonstrations on Avenida Ayrton Senna, in Barra da Tijuca.
