The president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Kassio Nunes Marques, ordered the removal of posts by former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro that questioned the security of Brazilian electronic voting machines. The posts used CIA documents about elections in Venezuela to question the electronic voting system in Brazil.
The decision also prohibits Eduardo Bolsonaro from again sharing content that associates the company Smartmatic with the voting machines used in Brazil. The minister established a 24-hour deadline for Eduardo or the X platform to remove the indicated posts.
The action was filed by the Brazil of Hope Federation, formed by PT, PCdoB and PV, against Eduardo Bolsonaro, Senator and pre-presidential candidate Flavio Bolsonaro, and deputies Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) and Julia Zanatta (PL-SC). The federation accuses the four of promoting, between July 17 and 21, a disinformation campaign against the electronic voting system.
Minister Nunes Marques also prohibited Eduardo from reiterating, reposting, or spreading similar content on the topic, seeking to contain the dissemination of information that could harm trust in the Brazilian electoral process.
