MED organizes meeting with Japanese delegation from Ibaraki-ken on sustainable agri-food systems and territorial development

MED organized on September 1st, at the University of Évora, a meeting with a Japanese delegation from Ibaraki-ken. The delegation was composed of 26 participants, representing 22 municipalities from the Ibaraki region, in Japan.

The meeting was dedicated to the debate on sustainable agri-food systems, the valorization of local products, and territorial development. The event aimed to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences between the two regions.

The initiative came from the Outreach and Innovation Unit of MED, demonstrating the commitment of this organization to establishing international partnerships in the scope of sustainability and regional development.

Portuguese João Brígido appointed to lead Philip Morris International's largest factory in the world

João Brígido, until now director of the Tabaqueira factory in Portugal, was appointed to lead Philip Morris International's industrial unit in Crespellano, Bologna, Italy, considered the largest factory of the group worldwide. A graduate in Electrical Engineering from ESTS, Brígido began his career at PMI in Portugal in 1999 and, over more than two decades, held Operations management positions in South Korea, Brazil and the Philippines, also having led the factory in Otopeni, Romania. The Crespellano unit, inaugurated in 2016, was the first of the group dedicated to large-scale production of heated tobacco products and hosts PMI's largest Industrial Center of Excellence. Brígido states he carries with him the experience of a highly competitive operation focused on rigor and people.
