Animation short by Lousada students reaches Dubrovnik Film Festival

Jornal Online2 September 2026 at 15:14

The animated short film "2025/2052", collectively made by 5th grade students from Escola Básica e Secundária Dr. Mário Fonseca, in Nogueira, Lousada, was selected for the competition at the Dubrovnik Film Festival in Croatia. The film was developed by the students under the guidance of Jorge Carvalho, Inês Ribeiro, Susana Pinheiro, and Ivo Arantes, and now represents a school production from Lousada in an international context.

This is not the first festival to recognize the students' work, as "2025/2052" had previously been part of the official competition selection at CINANIMA 2026 – International Animation Film Festival of Espinho, demonstrating the recognition of the production's quality.

The short was created within the framework of the Animation Cinema Workshops, a project developed through a partnership between the Municipality of Lousada, Casa-Museu de Vilar, and the Intermunicipal Community of Tâmega e Sousa. Through this project, the young people had contact with different phases of the animation creation process, from conception to the completion of the film.

The participation in the Croatian festival represents another step in the journey of this school production, giving visibility to the work developed by the students from Lousada within the animation cinema workshops.
