The Quaest poll conducted after TV Globo's candidate interviews for the presidency showed an express jump in Augusto Cury's (Avante) voting intentions. The writer and psychologist went from 2% to 10%, overtaking Renan Santos (Missão) and taking third place among the best-positioned candidates. The poll was commissioned by TV Globo and the newspaper O GLOBO.
Cury's growth was driven mainly by voters who identify as politically independent, meaning neither left nor right. Among this group, 24% declared their intention to vote for the candidate in the first round.
However, despite the advance in voting intentions, the poll reveals that 65% of independent voters still don't know Augusto Cury. Another 18% said they know him and could vote for him, while 17% know him but wouldn't vote for him.
In a potential second round against Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), Cury appears with 34% of voting intentions, while Lula would have 40%, indicating considerable competitiveness if the race reached that stage.
