The Quaest poll released this Wednesday presents the current scenario of the Brazilian presidential race segmented by voters' political stance. This is the first survey by the institute after the official start of the electoral campaign on August 16. The study divides respondents into five categories: Lula supporters, non-Lula left, independents, non-Bolsonaro right, and Bolsonaro supporters.
Among voters who declare themselves Lula supporters, Lula appears with 93% of voting intentions, while Augusto Cury, Renan Santos, and Samara Martins each share 1%. In the non-Lula left, Lula still leads with 78%, followed by Augusto Cury with 6% and Bolsonaro with 4%. The independent segment is the most fragmented, with Augusto Cury leading with 24%, Lula in second with 21%, and Bolsonaro with 9%.
In the non-Bolsonaro right field, the standout candidate is Bolsonaro, with 72% of intentions, followed by Augusto Cury with 6% and Renan Santos with 5%. Among Bolsonaro supporters, voting is practically unanimous for the same candidate, with 91% of intentions, while Lula appears with only 2% and the remaining candidates share the remaining percentage points.
The poll reveals strong polarization between the blocs of Lula and Bolsonaro supporters, with each candidate overwhelmingly dominating the preference in their electoral bases. Candidates Augusto Cury and Bolsonaro stand out as alternatives in the independent and non-Bolsonaro right segments, respectively.
