End of the 6x1 schedule: Senate committee opens session and rapporteur presents text

oglobo2 September 2026 at 13:24

The rapporteur of the constitutional amendment proposal (PEC) that ends the 6x1 work schedule, Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), began on Wednesday morning the reading of his report in the Senate's Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ). The report does not bring modifications to the proposal, which had already been approved by the Chamber of Deputies.

The proposal aims to replace the schedule of six days of work and one day of rest with a model that limits the weekly workload. Omar Aziz expressed intention to establish a special calendar for voting before the elections.

Despite threats from opposition parties to use procedural maneuvers to obstruct the vote in the committee, the government leader in the Senate, Teresa Leitão (PT-PE), stated there are enough votes to approve the PEC in the CCJ.
