Quaest Survey: interest in elections is lower among independent voters

oglobo2 September 2026 at 14:15

The Quaest survey released on Wednesday revealed that interest in this year's elections is lower among independent voters. This was the institute's first survey since the official start of the campaign on August 16. Among independents, only 24% said they were very interested in the electoral process, while 33% said they had no interest at all.

The survey interviewed 2,004 people between August 30 and September 1, with a margin of error of two percentage points, plus or minus. The survey was commissioned by Globo and Editora Globo.

The data were divided by political groups. Among Lula supporters, 50% said they were very interested in the elections, compared to 45% of Bolsonaro supporters. Among the non-Bolsonaro right, 39% reported being very interested, while among the non-Lula left the rate was 40%.

Independents show the lowest rate of very interested (24%) and the highest of no interest (33%). Among the other groups, lack of interest ranges from 14% (Lula supporters) to 19% (Bolsonaro supporters).
