On September 19, at 7pm, at Casa da Chaminé, the book "Fontes para a história de uma comunidade medieval. O Foral de Porches de 1286. Edição diplomática" [Sources for the History of a Medieval Community. The Foral of Porches from 1286. Diplomatic Edition], authored by João Costa, will be presented. The presentation of the work will be delivered by Professor Luís Filipe Oliveira.
The event is part of the celebrations of the 740th anniversary of the foral of Porches, which include a commemorative program promoted by the Municipality of Lagoa in coordination with the Parish Council of Porches, running until August 2027.
According to a statement from the Lagoa council, this commemoration constitutes an opportunity to promote rigorous historical knowledge about the local community, strengthen the heritage identity of the parish of Porches, and enhance its place in regional and national history.
The diplomatic edition of the 1286 Dionysian foral of Porches, framed by a historical study and complemented by the edition of contemporary documentation, stands as one of the foundational pillars of the aforementioned commemorations.
