The faithful of Vila Chã, a parish in the municipality of Vila do Conde, are being targeted by a scam attempt. The local parish priest's name is being used without authorization to send messages requesting money transfers.
The parish has issued a warning to parishioners not to pay attention to these fraudulent messages. According to the institution, the money requests that are circulating are false and do not correspond to any legitimate initiative of the parish.
Local authorities warn that no one should make bank transfers in response to requests received by message that use the parish priest's name. This type of scam, which exploits people's trust in the Church, has been increasingly frequent in various regions of the country.
