Find out how street blockades will be around Rock in Rio 2026; City Hall recommends taking BRT to the festival

cbn2 September 2026 at 13:19

Starting next Friday (4), Rock in Rio 2026 will have a large area of closures around the event, which takes place at the Olympic Park, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio. The objective of the closures is to facilitate the public's arrival at the festival and avoid problems with app-based ride services, taxis, and private vehicles.

The closures will operate between 2 PM and 5 AM the following day, on all event days. The affected streets include Ambassador Abelardo Bueno Avenue in its entirety, Engineer Carlos Carvalho Avenue between Colonel Pedro Corrêa Road and Arroio Pavuna Road, and Colonel Pedro Corrêa Road between the return of the Pedro Corrêa BRT Station and Abelardo Bueno Avenue.

Sections of Salvador Allende Avenue will also be closed, in the direction of Estrada dos Bandeirantes, between Pedro Calmon Street and the area near Morro do Outeiro BRT Station, in addition to Aroazes Street, Jaime Poggi Avenue, and Franz Weissman Street. The list of closures continues with other sections not completely mentioned in the article.

The Rio City Hall recommends that the public go to the festival using BRT as a means of transportation to facilitate access to the event.

Chronicle by Paulo Freitas do Amaral evoking childhood memories in Cruz Quebrada, in Oeiras, describing the now nearly extinct habit of "family whistles" - unique sounds each family used to call their children home, especially at dinner time. The author narrates how these sound communications allowed children to play freely in the streets while parents maintained contact at a distance. Despite modern technology having replaced this tradition, the author reveals he still uses his mother's whistle in supermarkets when they lose each other, proving certain habits can survive over time.
