Actor and director Gracindo Jr. died Wednesday morning, the 2nd, at age 83, at his residence in Rio de Janeiro. He had been away from television for more than seven years and leaves behind three children, including actors.
His last public appearance was recorded in early June, when he was photographed strolling in a wheelchair on Barra da Tijuca beach, in the West Zone of Rio, accompanied by a caregiver. Gracindo was lucid but had mobility difficulties due to his age.
Last July, the actor had reappeared in a post by actress Maitê Proença on social media. The two were romantic partners in the soap opera Dona Beija, aired in 1986, and Maitê visited Gracindo at his home in Barra da Tijuca.
In recent years, Gracindo Jr. was under the care of his wife, Daisy Poli. The artist, who was a leading man in soap operas, leaves a legacy marked by his participation in prominent productions in Brazilian television.
