A fire hit an area under a viaduct on Marechal Rondon Avenue, in Sampaio, North Zone of Rio, on Wednesday morning. The flames caused a column of smoke that could be seen from far away. There is no information about injuries.
The Fire Department was called at 8:14 AM, and teams from the Vila Isabel station went to the scene to combat the flames. The incident was still ongoing at the time of reporting.
Due to the fire, there were impacts on traffic in the region. Both directions of Sampaio Elevated Highway are closed, and municipal guards are directing drivers in the area.
