The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) suspended the manufacturing of all sanitizing products produced by Unilever at the Vinhedo unit in the interior of São Paulo. The decision was made after an inspection identified non-compliance with good manufacturing practice rules. The measure is preventive in nature and does not determine the recall of products already available on the market nor the interruption of use by consumers.
The inspection that resulted in the suspension was conducted between August 24 and 28. The inspection was carried out jointly by the São Paulo State Health Surveillance Center and the Vinhedo Health Surveillance. During the inspection, irregularities related to non-compliance with standards governing good manufacturing practices for sanitizing products were identified.
The products affected by the suspension are those used for cleaning, disinfecting, and sanitizing environments and surfaces. The resolution published by the regulatory agency determines the halt of production of all sanitizing products manufactured at the Vinhedo unit, but keeps items that were already on the market before the decision available for consumption.
