The Argentine midfielder was already known by Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni, but now he will be managed by Maresca at City. The truth is that Enzo Fernández already played under Maresca's orders at Leicester City, so he is familiar with the tactical system and the demands of the Italian coach.
Chelsea, for its part, received a historic amount for the sale of the player, but had to accept a significant loss compared to the 121 million euros it had paid to Benfica in January 2023.
Benfica still receives 725 thousand euros from this transfer, through a percentage clause agreed upon in the original sale of the player to Chelsea. This amount represents an additional gain for the Portuguese club, which negotiated a Solidarity Mechanism clause when it transferred Enzo Fernández to London.
