Belgian international Dodi Lukebakio saw his future at Benfica clearly defined, with the club refusing an offer of around 20 million euros from Sunderland. The English club, known as the "Black Cats," was strongly interested in the immediate signing of the 28-year-old winger and was willing to pay high values for his pass.
Benfica's structure made the decision to block the transfer before the transfer window closed, choosing to reject the British proposal. Despite the strong financial gain that the sale would provide, the encarnados management considered that Lukebakio can play a very relevant role in the squad.
The winger, who has been a regular substitute, promises full commitment to change his situation in coach Marco Silva's selections throughout the season. The Lisbon club believes the player can still contribute significantly to the team's goals.
