One year after the Glória Elevator tragedy in Lisbon, 36 victims of the accident continue to await compensation. The elevator, operated by Carris, derailed on the line connecting Baixa to Bairro Alto, causing the death of several passengers and injuring dozens of people.
The accident also caused 24 injured, of which nine in serious condition. Carris's insurer, Fidelidade, informed on August 27 that all injured "remain without their clinical situation definitively consolidated," which means the victims still do not know the final state of their injuries and, consequently, the exact value of the compensation they are entitled to.
The victims continue to await responses and compensation, while investigations into the causes of the accident are underway. Carris and the competent authorities face pressure to resolve the situation of those affected, one year after the tragedy.
