Claudio Echeverri will be Benfica's next signing after the Club reached a full agreement with Manchester City. The 20-year-old Argentine midfielder arrived in Portugal on Tuesday at Humberto Delgado Airport to sign for the eagles on a loan with a purchase option.
At the airport, the player did not hide his happiness at joining Benfica and revealed who convinced him to accept the transfer. Echeverri revealed he spoke with Argentine Valentín Prestianni, who plays for Benfica, being the first person he spoke to about the transfer. The player also admitted he sent a message to Prestianni and cannot reveal more details about that conversation.
The young Argentine also revealed he spoke with coach Marco Silva and with players Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva, both currently at Manchester City. These conversations were part of the process that led to the completion of the transfer to the eagles.
Echeverri also praised Benfica's stature, considering it the biggest domestic champion, thus demonstrating his enthusiasm for joining the encarnado emblem. The player hopes to sign the contract tomorrow, thus concluding his transfer to Benfica.
