The Government acknowledged flaws in the Volta System, the packaging deposit system in Portugal. The Minister of Environment, Maria da Graça Carvalho, acknowledged that problematic situations have been identified within the system that need to be corrected.

Maria da Graça Carvalho guaranteed that the situations already identified are being resolved. The official publicly acknowledged the problems that have been reported by consumers and municipalities regarding the system's operation.

The minister defended the need to increase the number of packaging collection machines available. This measure aims to make the return process easier for consumers and ensure greater territorial coverage of the system.

The executive is also betting on greater involvement of municipalities in the oversight and implementation of the Volta System. This collaboration with local authorities is considered essential to guarantee the success and effectiveness of the deposit system throughout the country.
