Artificial Intelligence has already reached 85% of young people and almost half use it for schoolwork

Generative artificial intelligence is already part of the daily life of most Portuguese children and young people. According to the EU Kids Online 2025 study, 85% of young people between 9 and 17 years old have already used these tools, which corresponds to eight out of every ten individuals in this age group.

Almost half of these young people use artificial intelligence to do schoolwork, revealing a significant adoption of this technology in the educational context. The study thus paints the portrait of a generation increasingly connected to the digital world.

However, this growing exposure to the digital world also brings associated risks. The EU Kids Online 2025 data indicates that more than half of young people encountered potentially dangerous or inappropriate messages while browsing the Internet.
