O GLOBO newspaper launched the "Daycare Guide," a tool that allows parents to compare class sizes in early childhood education at each private school. The analysis was conducted based on almost 300 daycare centers and preschools in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
The calculation of class sizes was done by dividing the total number of children in daycare and preschool at each institution by the number of classes in these two stages. The data used comes from the 2025 School Census, the official statistics reported by educational institutions to the Ministry of Education.
According to the analysis, private schools in Rio de Janeiro city have an average of 12 students per class in early childhood education. In São Paulo city, this average is lower, with 10 students per class.
In addition to class sizes, the GLOBO tool presents other information about the schools, such as monthly fees, schedules, location, infrastructure, and teaching methodology, making it easier for parents to choose the ideal institution for their children.
