The Housing Rental Support Program has been revoked and replaced by the Simplified Affordable Rental Regime (RSAA), which has now come into effect. This change represents a significant reformulation in the way housing rental is supported in Portugal.
The new regime provides full exemption from IRS or IRC on rents received by landlords who join the program. This measure aims to boost the rental market and make it more accessible to the population.
At the same time, a new instrument aimed at larger-scale investments has also been created. This instrument comes as a complement to the RSAA, seeking to attract capital to the rental sector.
These changes are part of a broader housing policy strategy, seeking to balance the interests of landlords and tenants in the Portuguese market.
