Mozambican bank consumer complaints fell to 487 in six months

SAPO Notícias2 September 2026 at 07:10

Mozambican bank consumer complaints decreased to 487 in the first half, representing a reduction compared to the 620 that had been registered in the same period the previous year. The information was made available by Mozambique's central bank.

The detailed analysis of these complaints resulted in the identification of wrongful charges by financial institutions. As a result, 989 thousand euros that had been wrongly charged were returned to consumers.

Mozambique's central bank is the entity responsible for monitoring and compiling these statistics on consumer complaints in the country's banking sector. The reduction in the number of complaints comes in a context where financial authorities continue to act in protecting the rights of bank consumers.

Tim Cook to receive $47 million as Apple chairman

Tim Cook, who stepped down as Apple CEO at the end of August after nearly 15 years, will receive a compensation package of approximately $47 million as chairman of the Board of Directors, comprising $2 million in annual salary and $45 million in stock, representing a 20% reduction compared to 2025 compensation. His successor, John Ternus, will receive a base salary of $3 million and an annual stock grant valued at $55 million. This leadership change marks only the second CEO transition at Apple in this century, and analysts interpret Cook's substantial salary package as a signal that he will continue to play an active executive role, providing support to the company in dialogues with global policymakers.

Portugal summons Russian ambassador after hybrid attacks in Germany

Portugal will summon the Russian ambassador to demand explanations about hybrid drone attacks at Leipzig airport in Germany, after Berlin attributed responsibility to Russia. Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel announced the measure upon arrival at an informal EU foreign ministers meeting in Ireland, anticipating a "very strong" reaction from the European Union to the incident. The ministers will discuss possible measures today, including an expanded sanctions package against individuals and companies, as well as preventive measures for cybersecurity and protection of airspace and critical infrastructure. Germany held Russia responsible for the drone attack attempt at Leipzig airport in August, which contained explosives and targeted cargo planes used to send military aid to Ukraine. Rangel also noted that all member states are feeling Russian hybrid threats, giving the example of Ireland, which has faced several incidents, including at airports.
