Olive oil recovered its popularity among Spanish consumers last year. In 2025, Spanish households consumed 318.7 million kilos of the product, representing 53.9 million kilos more than the previous year, with an increase of 20.4%. This was the biggest jump in consumption since 2010.
Olive oil was the great protagonist of the inflationary spiral that hit Spain between 2022 and 2023, a period in which many consumers reduced their purchases due to high prices. However, the trend reversed in the last year, with the return of old buyers to the product.
The recorded growth of 20.4% even surpassed the increase of 16.0% observed in 2020, when Spain was in full lockdown and the hospitality sector remained closed, which led many consumers to cook at home.
