At Barradão, Vasco tries to repeat 2009 feat against Vitória to reach Copa do Brasil semifinal; relive it

Vasco faces Vitória this Wednesday, at 9:30 PM, at Estádio Barradão, in Salvador, for the second leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals. The Cruz-Maltino seeks to advance to the competition semifinal for the third consecutive time. The match is expected to have a full house and a hostile atmosphere for the visitors.

In the first leg, played at São Januário, Vasco won 1-0. With this result, the Rio de Janeiro team only needs a draw at Barradão to secure qualification. If it loses by a one-goal margin, the decision will be made in the penalty shootout.

Vasco's record at Barradão is unfavorable. In 29 games against Vitória at the Bahian stadium, the Cruz-Maltino won only six, drew six, and lost 17. In the four previous editions of the Copa do Brasil in which the teams met, Vitória advanced in three of them, taking advantage of the home factor.

Vasco seeks inspiration from 2009, when it managed to hold the opponent away from home and qualified at the same stage of the competition. The Cruz-Maltino's coach hopes to repeat this feat to continue strong in the pursuit of the Copa do Brasil title.
