Striker David Corrêa, from Vasco, gave a statement to the Civil Police this Monday and admitted to having acquaintances in Espírito Santo, the state where he grew up, who are linked to the investigation into arms and drug trafficking. However, the player denied any involvement in the crimes under investigation.
David had his cell phone seized after a search warrant executed in Rio de Janeiro. The agents were looking for conversations between the player and one of the targets of the operation, which investigates a criminal organization operating interstate with origins in Espírito Santo.
The player reinforced that, despite knowing people who are being investigated in the neighboring state, he has no knowledge about the crimes committed or who is involved in each case. Vasco's lawyers who had access to the statement stated that David has no implication in the case.
The club maintains legal support for the player, and agent André Cury, who manages David Corrêa's career, had already denied any involvement of the athlete with crime.
